100 Years to service of The Life.


We want to prepare along the life, in order to turn these 100 years more than in a celebration, in an event of grace and of evangelizing commitment.

We are conscious of being the inheritors of a missionary evangelical commitment, marked with the delivery of hundreds of evangelists claretianos, religious, men and women, who for 100 years have come delivering health, life, and ideal in the accomplishment of an evangelizing project marked with blood, which we admire, we value and want to continue in a way nearest to the Gospel and to the signs of the times through that today we have to live.




Who we are the claretianos?

The claretianos we are anxious, have a great project of life and you gain many of improving. We are children of San Antonio Maria Claret, because of it in Colombia we remember his infancy and youth, his life, his missionary testimony as prophet, putting to the service of humble and simple.

We are carriers of a message of brotherhood and solidarity, in the service of the life and to the dignity of the human being. The claretianos we are persons capable of discovering the step and the God's presence in the history and answering to the challenges that us the society presents.





History Of Claretianos In Colombia

Evoking the trip of the first missionaries Claretianos come from Spain that one century ago they came to Colombia, there moved for the river Atrato a missionary excursion that departed from Cartagena and came to Quibdó, where numerous inhabitants went out to receive them in the wharf near the Convent or episcopal house, as to happen on February 14, 1909. Quibdó is the capital of the Department of Choco, placed to the noroccidente of the country, on the pacific littoral. Is characterized for being a region of dense tropical jungle crossed by the majestic river Atrato in whose shores place the principal human cores formed for the most part by black and indigenous population.

From 1909 the claretianos we assume in Colombia a
commitment that, close to the preaching, centres on the transformation and accomplishment of works fulfilled with faith and hope, lengthways and width of the national territory. " Engineers, architects, anthropologists, pedagogues, theologians, biblistas, investigators, poets, designers, filmmakers, musicians, composers, writers and up to aviators they have been the missionaries identified with the people and the culture of Hit, dedicated to the service without fear of the climatic and unhealthy inclemency, the violence and the death.

The difficult socioeconomic conditions suffered in these lands for blacks, Indians and peasants strengthened his missionary option for the Life, the oppresseds, the organizations of base, the defense of the territory and the liberating church and inculturada respectful of the identity and of the customs of the settlers.


100 Years Evangelizing to the poor of Colombia

The Missionaries Claretianos founded by San Antonio Maria Claret, managed 100 years ago to Colombia to evangelize to the poor, beginning for the indigenous communities and afrodescendientes of Choco, and of other regions as the Ariari, Tumaco and Tierradentro. From 1909 the claretianos assumed a commitment that, close to the preaching, centred on the transformation and accomplishment of works fulfilled with faith and hope, lengthways and width of the national territory. On February 14 of the present year, the Missionaries Claretianos celebrate 100 years of having come to our Colombian land. A group of missionaries, headed by the P. Martin Alsina, General Superior, come from Spain to take charge of the missions in the whole territory that nowadays Choco and some populations of the Urabá antioqueño and of the current Risaralda.




San Antonio Maria Claret
Biography
In Sallent's industrial villa to the north of Spain, in the province of Catalonia he is born on December 23, 1807, Antonio Claret. He is the fifth son of a family of eleven. The textiles turn into his real passion. By day and by night, he spends his hours imagining new models and revolutionary procedures. In 1825 he leaves of Sallent to Barcelona where he registers in the commercial school to be perfected in the field of the textile industry. In order not to limit himself to the studies, that is to say, to the merely theoretical thing,he uses as draftsmanand technician, in a great factory of fabrics of the city. Nevertheless, this way of life does not fill it completely. He lacks something to feel realized. On a Sunday, the preacher in the mass repeats the words of the gospel: " Of what does he serve the man to gain the entire world, if ultimately he loses his soul? " This phrase changed his life. Forthwith, all those machines and projects that were turning in his imagination, stopped in dry, as the manacles of a clock that has just broken. And hebegan his ocational process.
